Nicky & Dylan | Excelsior Wedding Photography

That June was so terribly rainy. I woke up that morning and it was already pouring out (the second rainy Saturday in a row). I got dressed and assembled the last few bits of my gear, and prayed to the weather gods that there would be a break in the clouds and the storms would hold off for this wedding that was taking place in the woods.

When I reached Nicky’s hotel, I prepared for the worst when I knocked on the door, but I was greeted with the most cheerful bride to be you could imagine. She took the gloomy weather forecast in stride, and the weather gods did indeed bless us with enough dry skies to get outdoor portraits, the ceremony and the cocktail hour with only a few stray raindrops, and the rain came back promptly at dinnertime when the guests had reassembled indoors for the evening.

Nicky & Dylan spent the entire wedding day positively beaming, and their joy was infectious – all their guests had an absolute blast. It was a dream to photograph a wedding where the couple was surrounded by so much love.

Tara & Grace | Minneapolis wedding photography

After I drove home from Grace and Tara’s wedding, I instantly knew it had become one of my favorites, just like how their engagement session was. I usually leave each wedding I photograph wrapped in a warm afterglow, savoring a quiet car ride home in the dark (since many weddings tend to end with a raucous dance party), rehashing the events of the day. Tara and Grace spent their day surrounded by so many loving friends and family, and it was an absolute privilege to photograph the wedding that they had both fought so hard to be able to celebrate legally. There were multiple moments where I had to fight back tears that day.

It wasn’t a perfect day (and no wedding ever is). Much like most of June 2014, it rained heavily that morning and forced them to move their ceremony indoors, and the aisle might have been a wee bit too narrow for the processional, but in the end it was a joyous celebration of two charismatic, intelligent and spunky people.

Anna & Ryan | St. Paul Wedding Photography

Anna and Ryan had the most wonderful, heartfelt wedding celebration at the Saint Paul College Club in St. Paul, MN. There were so many lovely details that they had put together with their friends and families, but most of all I was blown away that Anna sewed her incredibly gorgeous wedding gown by hand, and that their wedding bands were handmade by Ryan.  It was such an honor to document their beautiful relationship, and to visualize the care they put into crafting a wedding that so perfectly reflected their values.

Grace & Tara | Minneapolis engagement photography

I met Tara & Grace at a mutual friend’s birthday party last summer, and even from my brief interactions with them I could tell that they were an exceptional couple. When I later heard they were planning to get married after the marriage amendment went into effect, I gave my mutual friends some not-so-subtle hints that I still had some openings for weddings in 2014. 🙂 After meeting with them for a fun Friday happy hour, I was thrilled when they decided to hire me to document their wedding!

I took their engagement photos on a picture-perfect fall morning, when the fall colors were just starting to peek out (which was really unusual, since it was already nearing mid-October). St. Anthony Main made a perfect backdrop to showcase their relationship and their spunky personalities.

We were having a great time during the session, and then we walked past this hollow at the base of a massive tree. Both Tara and Grace are fairly  petite and when they took turns seeing if they could fit in the hollow, that’s when all my suspicions that they were absolutely my ideal clients were confirmed.

Kellie - Noelle, you rocked these photos! Oh my gosh, they’re so awesome! 🙂

B Family | Eden Prairie Family Photography

Happy (snowy) Monday! Here’s a session that’s really making me long for warm, fall days. The weather could not have been more perfect for this family mini-session.

Meet August – one of the most charismatic little dudes I’ve had the pleasure to work with. He has two totally amazing parents, and there’s no doubt as to how much love there is in this family. I had such a blast photographing them!

brightblog_0002brightblog_0003brightblog_0004brightblog_0005brightblog_0006August thought my camera was the coolest thing ever. It was adorable.
